Started a new collaboration with Bruno Oliveira on homelessness in Brighton & Hove.
Here’s a couple of exploratory shots and my first impressions…
It felt strange to photograph the space where someone’s made home, without their permission, even though they were not present and it was, in reality, a public space.
The contrast between the ostentatious building, which used to be a bank and is now vacated and for sale. A dwelling was set up under the arches, on what used to be the entrance to the bank. It felt necessary to include all the building even though that meant loosing details of the dwelling into an insignificant, unoticable detail on the image – desensitised, we become.
